Our Tasting Thus Far

What We've Liked

Our problem here is getting good/great whiskies. Here in Ontario Canada, our selections are governed by the Liquour Control Board of Ontario (aka the LCBO. They really don't tend to have exceptional selections of  whiskies. Plus the selection tends to vary from store to store depending on what the store manager brings in. Trust me when I tell you we pay a hefty price for our liquours here, sadly.

The following list are some of the whiskies we have tried and liked. They are in no particular order either and neither is the list complete.

We'll give some tasting notes in the near future.

The Islands -  Talisker.

To me, Talisker is a very refined peated whiskey. Easy on the palette.

Islay - Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Bruuchladdich, Bunnahabhian, Caol Ila, Kilchomen, Bowmore.

If you like your peat, this is the region for you.

Wales - Yes, you read that correctly, Wales. Penderyn Whisky Legend. This is a very nice easy on the palette whisky. To me it compares in profile to an Irish Whisky and that's NOT an insult to either country. We've also tried the Penderyn Madeira, with its ex-Madeira cask influences coming through.

Ireland - Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Writers Tears, Jameson, Kilbeggan, Red Breast 12 Year

Once again, an easy on the palette group of whiskey

Highlands - Highland Park, Olds Pulteney, AnCnoc, Aberfeldy, Dalmore, Dalwhinnie, Deanston, Glenmorangie, The Macallan, Oban

Lowlands - Auchentoshan

Jura - Jura
